Thanks for the info JJ. Solid as always.

Just wanted to respond quickly to Rick's comment in the previous blog. Dutch for Panarin straight up? Considering the C/W capability, age, and production and consistency... I would probably do that trade also. And in relation to reading the trade market, I am just going off of what is being reported here, and elsewhere. Great info, insight, and constructive criticism makes this blog great.

The question I have to ask, is the problem getting up ice talent or system?

Wondering if a Hanzal acquisition would cost Kruger? Be nice to keep him for the fourth line center/wing.

I would have no issue with Moving Kruger to help land a 6 ft 6 centre.

What do you think of Polak as an Oduya type depth move? He looked good against Montreal last night.

I don't think Kruger in his current condition (wrist) is getting dealt. Also, Desjardins has been shopped and not getting much interest. But things can change.

Gotta give to get.

Mornin' John...

saw your response at the end of the last thread...certainly Hanzal seems like the guy they should go after (another good centerman) especially taking draws in your own zone late in games would benefit us when we're not sure where Kruger's wrist is at...wondering what its going to take to get him? I suggested a first and Motte, but then it was noted Motte was hurt last night at the Rock.

Some folks have mentioned Mitchell from the Avs as well. I still think Duchene is out of reach...price too steep and is Sakic actually going to pull the trigger or wait until the draft...? Although you mention prices may come down a bit now as we get close to the final bell.

The other thing would be adding a depth dman - Oduya would seem to slide back in nicely if they can get him with Hammer day to day with the back.

I would also suspect that the Hawks first round pick for this draft is available to help get it done. I can't believe they would be concerned about making a good show at the draft instead of another serious Cup run. Again folks only so many bites at the apple with this core especially with Keith and Hossa...Bowman needs to get a couple of pieces here in the next 72 hours.

Shout out to Joe as well...agree Joe if the Blues move Shattenkirk it would be East can't seem them moving him in their own conference. Also interested to see what the Habs do here. Do they go all in on Dutch?

Possible first round match.

Two pretty good teams. A good measuring stick.

This is the kind of game we may get a good feel with some of the young guys and our overall depth.

Blues will be bringing it. I hope we come prepared to battle!!!

I'm wondering which team, Blues or Preds, do Hawks' fans think would be easier to beat if they meet in the first round? Why?

With the addition of Jurco and with Hino being sent to Rockford, the Hawks 23-man roster is currently comprised of 8 Canadiens, 5 Americans, 3 Swedes, 3 Slovics, 2 Czechs and 2 Russians. Reminds me of the international flavor of the great Detroit teams from the pre-cap era.

Good write up JJ , reading some posts from previous blog and can't believe some are still advocating including Hartman or Schmaltz in any trade proposals. I think we need to add but at the same time i think this teams chemistry is the best it's been for a few years now. Hanzel would be nice of coarse and a third line of Hartman Hanzel Hossa on paper would be a awesome but if you include Schmaltz or Hartman you ( imo) have over paid and have created another hole in your line up. JJ agree with what you said about Edmonton against the Hawks and worry about the Hawks being pushed around a bit from some teams. I think the Hawks do need a tough presence
to keep teams from taking liberties with our smaller and young players[/img]

Given his $3M cap hit, I don't think he'll be picked by Vegas, even if his wrist improves (and he's had injury/FO% problems all year, not just recently). So assuming the Hawks will need/want to move him after this year for cap purposes, are they going to have to include a sweetener or otherwise make Kruger part of a larger deal to do so?

But as someone mentioned to me last night, it is quite possible this interest is with an eye toward summer moves.

Reading between the lines, as i often do, it means that Crow is getting dealt to Ottawa, as a part of a bigger deal where the Hawks get:

Cap Space
Lazar or Dzingel
Anderson to back up Darling

Lindy Ruff confirms this morning that Oduya will make his return. Remi Elie, who was called up yesterday, will not be in the lineup.
